Yes, heavily, and we have for years. We install and support restaurant Point of Sale systems from San Francisco through the East Bay and down the Peninsula into San Jose, including Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Walnut Creek, Napa and Santa Rosa.
What is specific to the Bay Area
Labor is the most expensive in the country here, and how you present that to a guest matters. Bay Area operators run surcharges and service charges that have to appear correctly on the check, report cleanly at the end of the night, and stand up to scrutiny later. We configure those as real line items rather than something a server explains by hand.
Space is the other constraint. Kitchens here are small and there is rarely a back office to put a terminal in. Handhelds, a kitchen display instead of a wall of printers, and a system your manager can change from a phone are worth more in the Bay Area than almost anywhere else we work.
A lot of our customers here run several rooms across different cities. We build one menu and push it everywhere, so a price change in Alameda does not turn into five separate jobs.
